Step by step guide

1. Creat automation

The first step is to create a new automation in your DocsAutomator account.

2. Select Noloco as your data source

Please select Noloco as your data source.

3. Select your Google Doc template

Every automation in DocsAutomator needs a Google Doc template to create documents from. Please visit our Google Doc Template Guidefor all the options on how to get started. If you just want to test DocsAutomator, a good starting point is the Playground Template, which you can add in your automation.

4. Select DocsAutomator action in Noloco Workflows

In Noloco, add the “Generate a document with DocsAutomator” action to any workflow.

5. Add Your DocsAutomator API key

You find your API key under settings.

6. Select DocsAutomator automation

You will then be able to pick the created automation from the previous step and subsequently map your template placeholders to your Noloco data (please see more details below for image placeholders and line items).

7. Start Creating Documents 🎉

You’re now set up to create documents from Noloco using DocsAutomator and Noloco Workflows! 🎉

In Noloco Workflows, you can set up a follow-up actions to save the PDF in your record or send an email with the generated PDF as an attachment.

Adding images

You can add images from Noloco to your documents. Image placeholders are declared as {{image_UNIQUENAME}}. Please go here to learn more: Dynamic Images

In Noloco, you have to map image placeholders to the url of a file field (in the example below called “Image”):

Adding Line Items

You can build dynamic tables from line items in your Noloco data (think line items in an invoice, a list of hours worked by an employee etc.). Please make sure your line items are properly declared in your Google Docs template (see Google Doc Template Guide to learn about the right syntax).

In Noloco, you will then be able to map your line items to records linked to your triggering record.
